Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Bridge Course The Canadian Red Cross EMR Bridge course is an intensive 80-hour training program designed specifically for individuals who currently hold a valid OFA Level 3 or Advanced First Aid certification. This bridging program builds on existing knowledge and skills, allowing participants to transition into the role of an Emergency Medical Responder. Through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on practice, candidates will refine their patient assessment abilities, advance their knowledge of medical and traumatic emergencies, and develop the confidence required to provide high-quality care in diverse settings. Upon successful completion, participants receive a nationally recognized EMR certification, qualifying them to apply for licensing with the Emergency Medical Assistants Licensing Board (EMALB) and opening doors to further education and career opportunities in paramedicine. The EMR Bridge course also serves as the prerequisite for entry into the Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) program, making it the ideal next step for those pursuing a paramedic career pathway. Course Entry Requirements Current and valid OFA Level 3 certification or Advanced First Aid Minimum age of 16 (19 recommended for employment/licensing purposes) Ability to physically perform required skills, including lifting, moving, and patient care scenarios Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking) Government-issued photo ID
