The Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) program at L&M Academy provides students with the knowledge, clinical skills, and hands-on training required to respond confidently in emergency medical situations. Designed around real-world emergency response, this EMALB-approved program prepares students for careers in emergency medical services, industrial medicine, fire services, workplace response, and frontline healthcare.

Throughout the course, students develop practical skills in patient assessment, trauma management, airway management, CPR, medical emergencies, scene safety, communication, and emergency operations through scenario-based learning and hands-on instruction.

This 120-hour Emergency Medical Responder course follows EMALB competencies and prepares graduates to apply for provincial EMR licensing through the Emergency Medical Assistants Licensing Board (EMALB). Licensing examinations, fees, and scheduling are administered separately through the EMALB.

The EMR program is ideal for individuals beginning a career in paramedicine, emergency response, industrial safety, or healthcare, and also provides a strong foundation for students planning to continue into Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) education.

EMR Bridge

COURSE DETAILS

The EMR Bridge program at L&M Academy is an 80-hour EMALB-approved upgrade program designed for certified First Responders, OFA Level 3 attendants, and other qualified providers looking to advance their skills and pursue Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification.

This program builds on previous emergency response training and focuses on expanding clinical knowledge, patient assessment, trauma management, airway management, medical emergencies, and real-world emergency care skills required within pre-hospital medicine.

Through hands-on learning, scenario-based training, and licensing-focused education, students gain the knowledge and practical experience needed to prepare for EMR licensing and emergency medical response in industrial, rural, and emergency service environments.

The EMR Bridge program follows Emergency Medical Assistants Licensing Board (EMALB) competencies and prepares students to apply for provincial EMR licensing upon successful completion of the course. Licensing examinations, fees, and scheduling are administered separately through the EMALB.

This program is ideal for individuals looking to:

  • Upgrade from OFA Level 3 or First Responder certification

  • Pursue careers in emergency medical services

  • Work in industrial or remote medicine

  • Continue toward Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) education
